YSL.com sale

Hold on to your credit cards, girls!

The official online store of YSL is now on sale! I'm not sure up to when the sale will last. And it's irrelevant to me since I'm not a US resident. Sob!

In any case, I'm still drooling. Here are some of my picks if money was something I picked up from a trust fund:

It's hard to put on and it's got an ankle strap. There are several reasons why these silver Cage platform shoes are not the most practical buys. However, bear with me as I dream.

These Muse shades are so cool! I can see myself shielding my eyes with them while walking through the urban jungle shopping mall.

This is a blog about bags after all. And the over sized blue iridescent patent Muse is really pretty. I like the fact that the color is almost a neutral so you can wear it with almost anything in your wardrobe.

Anyhoo, as you can see I am back to blogging. With the sale season in full swing, there will be plenty of bags (and other stuff) to blog about.

5 Great Bags for under USD1000

Sigh! Bag prices are really skyrocketing with most entry level bags now starting at USD1000 and up. For the bag lovers out there, I found several great options to add to your collection. The good news is that all the bags are under USD1000 and from brands with stores here in the Philippines:

1. Gucci Baboushka Tote in Medium

I love the russet color of this bag which makes it stand out from other Gucci totes. The attached bag charm is cute. I think the shape is perfect for lugging around your stuff during the upcoming holiday season.

2. Marc Jacobs Rosen Satchel in Dark Gray

Marc Jacobs really knows how to make them! The dark gray color is perfect. The chain strap adds just the right touch of whimsy and allows you to carry the bag until your dinner date.

3. YSL Tribute Patent Tote in Turquoise

This bag is turning out to be a perennial in the YSL collection with new variations coming out every season. This time, the Tribute comes out in this cool blue color and patent leather.

4. Prada Cervo Antik Hobo

Made from Prada antique deerskin. I like the gathered look. Not a bad bag to start your Prada collection with.

5. Louis Vuitton Damier Speedy 35

Only because I am so clueless! At the Eluxury website, they finally featured a Damier Speedy 35. For those who think even the Speedy 30 may be too small, this may be the right size for you!

There you go, girls! Five great bags to salivate over. Hoping the markup at the local stores won't be too much though. It hurts to pay more than you have to.

Surviving the Drought and the Tresorie Bag Sale

Photo from The Bag Hag

Ordinary employees know that the months between August to October are the months of "drought". What do I mean? Let me explain....

Salaried employees are happiest from November to January. Most corporations release their 13th month and/or Christmas bonus in stages during those months. Wallets are full. Celebrations are plentiful.

Thereafter, especially when you have good relations with your employers, you get your salary adjustment shortly after January. A few privileged souls also get mid-year bonuses. The happy months with extra money should last until July. Hence, just in time for the summer sales.

Then, the drought months arrive. And one has to live within the confines of one's monthly salary. Take out the income taxes automatically deducted (it hurts!) and one is seldom left with enough money for the little joys of life (bags!)

That is where I am right now.

Then, while checking out the Tresormakati website, I saw this -

Isn't she pretty? In pretty good shape, I think. But you really need to see her in person. Now, the Bag Hag has just announced that they will be having a one-day sale TOMORROW, 26 September 2008!

What?! And little Ms. Purple YSL Muse is one of the bags going on sale. Double what?! Can I bear it?

Can I bear it?

To the lucky ones who are not in drought mode, the details are here.

Multicolored Handbags

While I didn't love it at first, the YSL Muse Two is starting to grow on me. I don't have any YSL bag yet. But the Muse Two is looking to be a great choice to add to my growing wish list. Love came upon seeing this colorful version.

I love how the bag's colors make it pop. Instantly creating the perfect accent piece to a somber outfit.

Then, I spied the Balenciaga Lune bag with a similar structure and color scheme.

Now, I'm confused! I also don't have a Balenciaga yet.

I'm usually very conservative about my bag choices. I'm blaming the Prada Nappa Trembled Blossoms tote for my current obsession with colorful bags.
Decisions, decisions.

As if. I'm really, really on a purse ban until the end of the year. Anyways, I can't afford any of the bags here! When does sale season start again? It's sooo far away...

Round 1 - Valentino v. YSL

Round 1. Who did it better? Who did it first? The two bags below are eerily familiar...

While scouring the collection of the The Museum of Bags and Purses, I came upon a lovely bag from YSL designed by Tom Ford in 2003. I was instantly drawn to it because I remembered seeing something similar before. Well, I found the twin in the latest Valentino collection featured at Neiman Marcus.

Apparently, a love for roses runs in both designers' genes. The similarities are more apparent in the black Valentino version. And the handles and shapes are a bit different. The Valentino is made of leather while the YSL is made of suede.

So which one did you like better?
